History

In 1994, Mark Wilcock applied for a Real Meat Company Franchise for this site.

Mark was well known to us as the son of Brian Wilcock, owner of "Brimark" the Real Meat Company Stockist for the Radlett area.

When Real Meat Company Founder, Richard Guy made his assessment visit to the site, he found a shop unit with no street frontage in a smallish, quietish albeit charming town.

A shop with no street frontage?

Failing to see the potential Mark had spotted, Richard said that a Franchise could not be granted until after a trial period. So the shop opened as a dedicated Stockist, Wheathampstead Country Meats.

Mark proved Richard wrong by making Wheathampstead Country Meats one of the most successful Stockists on the network. After a couple of years of brisk trading, the Franchise was granted and the shop reopened as The Real Meat Company Shop for the Wheathampstead area in 1997

Mark's secret is constantly to pay attention to customer needs. The Shop's success continued and is used, unashamedly, to bring other Stockists to visit should they ever complain about their location!

There is no doubt that in the lanes and streets surronding the Shop are plenty of discerning Real Meat customerrs who loyally support Mark's considerable attention to customer detail.
